Toyota R&D Advanced Mobility Update

Technology is radically reshaping mobility in ways that will profoundly impact communities around the world. SAA members are invited to hear directly from Toyota executives and receive an update on the world’s largest automaker’s R&D activities relating to the next generation of mobility on June 8, 2021.
This “members-only” virtual event will feature two Toyota North America (TMNA) senior executives who will examine how the company is leading the way to mobility’s future, including:
- An update on Supply Chain status and Toyota’s vision for future supplier collaboration and engagement.
- Toyota’s vision of future mobility using a human-centric approach to technology development.
SAA Board Member and respected industry analyst Daron Gifford will discuss Plante Moran’s research on the future of mobility and the crucial role for suppliers.
Robert Young
Group Vice President, Purchasing Supplier Development
Toyota Motor North America, Inc.
Based at Toyota’s Research & Development headquarters in York Township, Mich., Young is responsible for overseeing all vehicle parts and materials, indirect manufacturing procurement and supplier development, and preparation for TMNA Research & Development. Young joined Toyota in 1995 and has served in a series of roles in the Purchasing division, including several buying and department general manager roles.
Monte Kaehr
Group Vice President, Advanced Mobility Research & Development
Toyota Motor North America, Inc.
Kaehr is responsible for technical strategy and planning of advanced mobility solutions. Previously, he served as the Toyota Sienna chief engineer, and prior to that, Toyota Camry chief engineer for the North American region. Kaehr joined Toyota in 1992 as a design engineer in Japan and moved to Toyota’s North American Research & Development division in 1998 where he progressed through a series of positions in Body Engineering and Product Development.
