Industry Forecast Consultant

Toyota’s Corporate Strategy & Planning Business Insights Group is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Industry Forecast Consultant (this is manager level position.)
The primary responsibility of this role is to is to manage Toyota Motors North America’s (TMNA) industry and segment forecasts for mid-to-long term, as well as taking a lead role working with North America Vehicle Operations in their nearer-term forecasting. These mid-to-long term forecasts are a crucial element in the enterprise’s planning for vehicle lines, production footprint, dealer operations, and many other areas. In addition to the scheduled projects, there are many high-visibility ad hoc studies to support decision-making on individual projects. These projects require ongoing study, monitoring and knowledge of future vehicle planning, competitive intelligence, capacity planning, societal trends and consumer behavior, as well as economic and political conditions that will shape our industry and market in the future, including anticipation of how those factors will impact our business.
Reporting to the Forecasting Manager, the person in this role will support the Insights department's objective to provide accurate and insightful forecasts to the organization for confident decision-making.
What you will be doing:
- Lead current to long-range industry forecasting processes: selected areas of emphasis would include automotive research, including vehicle, segment, OEM, and industry performance.
- Analyze and forecast for: historical patterns and trend impact, changing customer preferences, proxy selection for projections
- Lead ad hoc quantitative and qualitative analyses, in support of forecasting efforts, sharing insights with team members, stakeholder groups, and Toyota executives
- Lead responses to internal stakeholder requests and questions related to the team’s forecasting work
- Maintain and build inter-department contacts for inputs to and explanation of forecasts
- Conduct workshops to leverage the expertise of team members in various departments of TMNA, as well as affiliates
- Identify and evaluate new sources of data and insights, to improve and strengthen the capabilities of existing processes and information
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, math, or statistics or engineering
- Extensive experience in forecasting
- Proficiency in data analytics -- both quantitative and qualitative
- Critical thinking ability
- Listening; interpersonal skills
- Writing and presentation skills
- Experience working with executive-level audiences
- Storytelling skills, including the ability to distill in-depth analytical work into an understandable narrative with logical conclusions
- Strong familiarity with the automotive industry and product/vehicle segments
- Leadership skills, including the ability to stand up for unpopular conclusions
- Strong teamwork orientation
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work in a changing, flexible, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Added bonus if you have:
- MBA or other advanced degree
- Automotive background
- Quantitative modeling experience
- Direct automotive forecasting experience
