SUMMARY:State of Automotive Recall and Warranty Summit
DESCRIPTION:5th Annual State of Automotive Recall and Warranty Summit\n \nThe state of recalls in the automotive industry continues to be alarming.  OEMs and suppliers paid out nearly $11.8 billion in claims and tallied $10.3 billion in warranty accruals for U.S. recalls in 2016\, with the $22.1 billion total estimated to be 26 percent higher than 2015. \nThe total number of vehicles recalled in the U.S. in 2016 climbed 4.5 percent to 53.1 million from 50.8 million in 2015\, making 2016 the highest year ever.  Is there an end in the sight? \nSAA’s 5th Annual State of Automotive Recall and Warranty Summit will take a new approach this year and look deeper into the results of these recalls.  What is considered insurable? How are these recalls impacting valuations? What are the short-term and long-term legal ramifications? How do recalls impact used car pricing and what have they meant to the repair industry? SUMMARY:Balancing the Benefits of Lightweighting
DESCRIPTION:Lightweighting May Not Be a New Concept\, But It Has Never Been More Critical \nOver the past several years\, the term “lightweighting” has become normal jargon in the auto industry. Lightweighting has become a necessity for OEMs to achieve aggressive fuel efficiency targets which is forcing the industry to react quickly. \nThe efforts to reduce the weight of components extend to nearly every auto supplier\, and the importance of research and development in achieving these gains has never been greater. In addition\, developments in materials use have helped manufacturers reduce vehicle weight. \nThe SAA will examine the challenges that need to be overcome in implementing new\, lightweighting technologies and try to answer: can weight reduction be achieved quickly at low cost\, or even by removing costs\, and without risk to performance or safety? Because much of the low-hanging fruit has already been implemented\, OEMs face real-world challenges in finding cost-effective ways to continue implementing further reduction solutions needed to offset weight gains due to increased demand for comfort\, convenience and safety technologies. \nRegister today for this important and timely event which will feature diverse experts and allow plenty of time for Q&A. \nSpeakers include: \n \nLaura Anderson \nPresident & CEO \nAluminum Blanking Company\, Inc. \n  \n  \nLaurent Chappuis \nTechnical Expert\, Lightweight Stampings \nFord Vehicle Operations \n  \n  \n \nMichael Robinet \nManaging Director \nIHS Automotive \n  \n  \n \nVishwas Shankar \nProgram Manager \nFrost & Sullivan \n  \nSandra Walker \nEngineering Group Manager\, Global Vehicle Mass Strategy \nGeneral Motors \n  \n  \nModerator:  Vincent P.
